Check the equalizer settings in the Bose app.

Be sure the bass and treble adjustments are not set too high or too low for your preferences. For more info, see Using the Equalizer settings.

Check the volume levels on the source.

Make sure the volume is not muted and gradually increase it to a comfortable level. If your audio source has an equalizer, sound quality may be affected when the bass or treble controls are set too high or too low. Try resetting these controls to their mid-range positions. Also, disable any audio enhancements, sound effects, or custom equalizer presets on the source device, as these settings can sometimes reduce audio quality.

Reset your headphones

If the headphones are unresponsive, you can reset them. Resetting the headphones resets the product controls and reboots the headphones. It doesn’t clear any device settings.

  1. Remove the headphones from the Bluetooth list on your device.

  2. Connect the USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the right earcup.
  3. Slide the Bluetooth/Power switch forward and hold while connecting the other end of the USB-C cable to a USB-C power source such as a computer or wall charger.
  4. Once the USB-C cable is connected to a USB-C power source, release the Bluetooth/Power button. When the reset is complete, the status light blinks white for 3 seconds, then glows according to the current charge level (see Understanding LED indicator status lights and information)

Try a different app.

If the issue only occurs with a particular app, it is likely related to the app or app settings.

Try playing different types of media.

Different media types might produce different quality sound. For example, Podcasts, music stored locally on your phone, MP3s, streaming music services (Spotify, Pandora), videos on your device or stored in the cloud, etc. can all vary in quality. Try different media to determine if the issue is specific to certain media.

If connected, bypass any adapters or extension cables.

If your product connects to the device using an extension cable or adapter, disconnect the extension cable or adapter to determine if the issue is related to it.

Check the condition of the USB cable.

Inspect the USB cable for any signs of damage, including cuts, fraying, bent connectors, exposed wires, or excessive wear.

Damage to the cable can cause charging issues, audio interruptions, connectivity problems, or prevent the headset from being detected by your device.

If the USB plug or any part of the cable is damaged, replace the USB cable and test the connection again.

Note: If available, try a different compatible USB cable to determine whether the cable is causing the issue.

Plug in a different pair of headphones.

Connect another pair of headphones to the audio device to determine if the issue is with the device or its settings.
